Travel recommendations
Below you’ll find details about visas, accommodation, and transportation.
Information for international guests
Visa
To get your Visa or Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), visit https://etakenya.go.ke/
While Kenya is now visa-free for all African countries, we still recommend having the ETA approved before travelling.
Don’t worry, it only takes 2-3 business days to get an approval, and it is all online.
Note: Some countries of departure require a yellow fever certificate; please check this link to see if you need one.
Arrival Date
The first ceremony is on 29th Nov., so we recommend arriving in Kenya on or before Wednesday, 26th Nov., to have enough time to rest and be fully recharged for the ceremonies.
Of course, you can arrive way earlier and explore (some ideas) Nairobi or other parts of Kenya.
Accommodation
For those opting for an airbnb stay, we recommend booking your accommodation in any of the following areas in Nairobi:
KILELESHWA | KILIMANI | LAVINGTON
For those opting for hotel stays, we will share recommendations in the coming days.
Getting Around
While there are lots of colourful buses (Matatu) in Nairobi, Kenya, our recommendation for getting around is Uber.

Getting there
Traditional Ceremony, 29th Nov.
This will take place in Machakos County, about 2 to 3-hour drive from Nairobi, Kenya.
For the diaspora community, we will organise transport to and from the venue. For those based in Kenya needing transport facilitation, do reach out to us, and we will also assist in finding means of transport.

Christian Vows Ceremony, 3rd Dec.
This will take place in Nairobi, Kenya.
The easiest way to get to the venue is by Uber because it is in Nairobi. However, if you are open to car pooling with other guests (just like the traditional ceremony), please reach out to Sally or Kamiye to connect you if possible.
